The Showdog Channel

We are a QuickTime Streaming Video hosting service for Show Dog Websites.

We are "Dog People" first, best known in the industry as DogPhoto.com
If you show dogs, We Know You. We know how to get what you want (and how you'll be if you don't get it!) As our photography business has grown, it's required more and more in the way of web services to stay competitive. Every new thing we wanted to do with the internet seemed to have another price tag, and it seemed like there was just no one place to go to get all we wanted.

Eventually, it just made more sense to us to buy our own server, get a commercial ISP account and set up web services dedicated to our needs, exclusively. We learned that once in place, one of these machines could serve the same services to a couple hundred people as easily as just we two, and then when we optimized one of our servers for QuickTime Streaming Video to share our home movies of our new baby pony, a whole new business was born.

So now, let's talk about you. You've got 10 megs of free web space from Earthlink when you signed up for your email, or you have 20 megs over at Geocities or one of the other outfits offering free or really cheap web hosting... you've got a nice little site, its finally generating some emails... folks interested in your breed... How much do you spend right now trying to convert them into a customer? How many times have you been asked to send a video tape to an someone? How much does that cost? Plus Postage, and a trip to thePO... And how many of THOSE do you average for each dog you place? Its not hard for you to honestly figure what you're really spending, if you're currently sending out VHS tapes... what-ever figure you arrive at, I'm sure its a bit higher than 4.95 a month. Wouldn't it be nice if they could just click a button and SEE your video? Your dogs in motion right NOW might make the difference that turns that website visitor in to a customer!

I'll bet you even already have 2 great minutes, your dog at that recent Breed Specialty, or a few comical minutes of the new pups discovering the joys of squeek-toys... VHS, 16mm film, and of course miniDV can all be converted to QuickTime. Even if you are already making your own QT video's, you'll like serving them from our QT Streaming server. Those other places are great for static web pages, but try to serve a video from them and its full of stops and starts, because they are set up to serve Static Web Pages... just text and photos...
If you already have Quick Time videos of your dog, you're ready to go. SEND us your video, we'll put it up and send you a text link you can paste into the HTML of your web page that will make the video appear on your website, without taking up any of the precious space & bandwidth allowed by your current web host.

If you have VHS, super 8 or 16mm footage we can do the necessary transfer for you. It's FREE to have us simply cut out a 2 minute slice (like your dogs ring presentation) add an intro credit and tail message, *like THIS one to the right* and we'll only ask you pay the first months hosting US $4.95 up front and sign up for automatic renewal, allowing your card to be charged once a month the same 4.95 hosting fee. As long as you're satisfied that is. Only the first month is required, drop out any time, for any reason, or no reason at all.

If you have lots of tape you want digitized, we are probably not your cheapest source for mass conversion. One hour of Video will occupy SOMEone a hair over 2 hours just to copy/burn to disk. We charge a dollar a minute,(tape time) in 15 minute increments. Your half hour VHS tape will cost 30.00 to put to DVD

The easiest way to tell us when to begin and end each Cut from your home video is to simply note the time on a watch with a second hand as the tape begins rolling, and jot down the time at the start and each end of each sequence you want in your QT video. We recommend your videos be 1-2 minutes long, depending on the action. Never longer than 5 minutes.

You can send us your MiniDV tape with notes about IN & Out points and we'll cut a 2 minute piece together for you. VHS, 16mm & super 8 is also acceptable.. we can convert the whole reel for your records, or just pull out the pieces you direct us to.. E-mail me, lets get started!
